The School of Management at the University of Bath is ranked among the top UK business schools, with a world-class reputation for business education and international research.

To support the School’s MSc students and maintain our strategic aim of delivering an outstanding student experience, an opportunity has become available for a Student Experience Officer to join the School’s MSc team on a fixed term contract to cover a period of absence, taking responsibility for supporting our one year Masters students from pre-arrival through to graduation.

A key aspect of the role will be to act as the main point of contact for tutorial support, motivating, encouraging, supporting and signposting MSc students, many of whom will be international, as they transition into their new environment. You will also work closely with other members of the MSc team, plus the Director of Studies, other academics who will guide on academic issues and the Head of MSc Operations.

You will be key in coordinating the MSc Welcome programme in September and be expected to develop and deliver enhancement activities that will include; social events, experiential learning initiatives, skills workshops and programme related activities. You will also work closely with students to encourage student-led initiatives and work with colleagues across the university in developing collaborative enhancement projects. Excellent presentation, communication, organisational and listening skills are required.

This is a very diverse role requiring energy, initiative and a pro-active approach. On one hand an empathetic approach is required when dealing with student concerns whilst at the same time having the commercial awareness to understand the learning needs of post graduate business students and the School’s competitive environment. Team working skills are essential, requiring the flexibility to cope with changing circumstances, collaboration with colleagues, and the ability to proactively share information. You will need to be able demonstrate excellent communication ability, tact, diplomacy and cross cultural sensitivity.

In addition, you will be required to support events and work occasional evenings and weekends particularly at peak times of the year.

This is a full time role with an expected duration of 12 months.

Informal enquiries about the post may be made to Gemma Ker-Bridges, Student Experience Manger (glb26@bath.ac.uk), however, please submit your application via the University website.
