We are seeking a highly motivated, qualified and experienced Subject Librarian within the Academic Services section of the University of Bath Library. You will provide exemplary services as Librarian for the Departments of Computer Science and Mathematical Sciences, working within the Library’s Science Faculty Subject team. You will have responsibility for the provision of library induction, information skills teaching, liaison, enquiry handling and the development of library collections, to support library users at all levels within your Academic Departments. You will participate in appropriate Department meetings, and build excellent professional relationships with academic and professional staff in your Departments.

Subject Librarians will take on additional areas of responsibilities appropriate to the role and service requirements.  You may assist in teaching, liaison and enquiry handling across the Faculty in conjunction with the Faculty team.  Currently this post also supports Library work with the University’s Learning Partnerships and Widening Participation teams.

As a Subject Librarian you will contribute to the development of Library strategy and services, and be expected to participate in task and finish and special interest groups essential to support this.  You should be innovative and collaborative in your work, with excellent communication skills and the ability to manage finite budgets.

Applicants should have a CILIP accredited qualification in librarianship or information studies, or equivalent, to at least undergraduate level, and be a Chartered member of, or committed to completing Chartership with CILIP.

The successful applicant will join a dedicated, professional team of Library staff committed to the continual development of services to support the University’s strategy: to deliver world-class research and teaching, extend the University’s international influence, and enrich the student experience.  We understand the importance of continued professional development for all Library staff in order to achieve this, and provide programmes of local opportunities and support involvement in appropriate external activities.
