Ashley Lait Head of Policy Programmes and Communications
Ashley leads the Institute for Policy Research's policy engagement work.
Role
Ashley's responsibilities include:
- Directing IPR Policy Programmes including: the portfolio of Policy Fellowship Programmes, Civil Service Masterclasses, and policy workshops
- Leading the Bath Policy Engagement Academy
- Leading the development and implementation of university wide policy engagement activities, including training
- Overseeing the portfolio of IPR public lectures and events
- Overseeing the delivery of IPR publications
Career
Before joining the IPR, Ashley was Deputy Director of the Economics Observatory with responsibility for editorial outputs (both online and ECO magazine) and regional policy engagement. She also contributed to the organisation and running of the Festival of Economics (a three-day event bringing together academic experts, journalists, practitioners and members of the public) and the Observatory's communications training.
In addition to her role at the IPR, Ashley manages the Economics Network, a national centre focused on training and supporting academics in economics education. She is also an editor of the Economic Review magazine for A-level students, the INOMICS Teach blog and the Economics Observatory. She holds a MPhil in War Studies and an MA in International Relations, both from King's College London, and did her undergraduate degree in Modern Languages (French and Italian) and European Studies at the University of Bath.
