Andy has also helped to develop and deliver media training, produced a podcast and led numerous video projects about academic research.

Prior to joining the University, Andy worked in communications for an international development charity and for the regional South West Observatory – a policy network that brought together experts from across the South West to improve the use of evidence across themes such as the environment, public health and economics at different spatial levels. He began his career as a researcher and press officer for a Member of the European Parliament.

He holds a BA in Politics with French and a MSc in Public Policy, completed at the University of Bath. As part of his MSc, he researched public engagement strategies to help achieve the government’s net zero ambition. He also has CIPR Diplomas in Public Relations and Public Affairs through which he focused on ways to improve the links between academic research and public policy.
