Louise Oliver Placements and Industrial Engagement Manager (Science)

Louise works in a Faculty-wide team to develop new partnerships, strengthen existing relationships and identify opportunities for strategic partnerships.

Role

Louiseā€™s role is to lead on placement strategy within the Faculty of Science. The goal is to provide students with personal and professional development experience, commercial awareness and networking opportunities through industrial collaboration. Louise leads a team of professional staff to support placement programmes across the Faculty of Science. The team utilise their breadth of experience to advise, support and identify relevant opportunities for science students.

Career

An associate fellow of the higher education academy (AFHEA), Louise has over 15 years of experience in recruitability skills development and placement employment. Louise joined the University in 2001 in the Department of Computer Science as Placements and web maintenance officer where she designed, developed and delivered a range of e-learning activities alongside delivering in-classroom sessions. Louise then moved into a Faculty-based role as Placements manager and has recently taken the role of Placements and Industrial Engagement Manager. Before joining the University, Louise ran a successful business for 10 years.

Education

Whilst working at the University of Bath, Louise completed a Certificate in Natural Sciences and went on to complete an Open University degree in Life Sciences achieving a 2.1. Following this, Louise has completed ILM level 5 leadership and management.
