Brem Anand Jagannathan Krishnan Principal Engineer, Research Computing Team

Brem leads cloud tech innovation, manages the HPC systems engineering team and guides users in leveraging cloud for high-performance computing.

Role

Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the implementation of a cost-efficient Phase 3 cloud environment, aligned with the evolving needs of institutional research
  • Managing and mentoring the HPC systems engineering team, while applying industry best practices to deliver high-performance, scalable, and secure research computing solutions
  • Enhancing the performance of existing software technologies to support and optimise research outcomes
  • Offering strategic guidance to academic researchers, engineering colleagues, and other teams to maximise the effective use of HPC and cloud platforms

Career

Brem brings over 14 years of experience in software product design and development, gained across several global technology companies. He possesses in-depth expertise in high-performance computing (HPC) across both Linux and Windows platforms, cloud-based HPC solutions (Azure Cyclecloud), programming data structures, and algorithm design.

He has strong programming proficiency in C and Python, with hands-on experience in system-level programming (including processes, signals, and inter-process communication), socket programming (TCP/UDP), and Linux utilities.

Before joining the Research Computing team, Brem worked as an HPC Cloud Computing Software Engineer at Altair Canada. Prior to that, he spent three years as a Software Developer at IBM India Software Lab and HCL Technologies.
