Mathew leads the operation, training, and maintenance of the Mechanical Engineering-based Imaging Facility instrumentation.
Role
Mathew Ball leads the operation, training, and maintenance of the Mechanical Engineering-based Imaging Facility instrumentation, including the:
- Keyence 3D Microscope
- Atomic Force Microscope
- Nanoindenter
Mathew provides consultation and analysis expertise to both internal researchers and external users. Additionally, he oversees multiple instrumentation in the Mechanical Engineering Ceramics Labs, where he is responsible for synthesis, manufacturing, and analysis of energy-harvesting ceramics.
Mathew also directly supports Mechanical Engineering undergraduate shaping workshops.
Career
Following further education in applied science, Mathew joined the University in 2014. He holds ten years of experience within the Department of Mechanical Engineering and has built valuable professional relationships with technical specialists, engineers, and suppliers, through conferences and networking events.
