Project Leader: Dr Fiona Dickinson, Chemistry / Natural Sciences

This project, which was awarded funding by the Teaching Development Fund (TDF) Seed, will organise an event aimed at aimed at dissemination of this practice and highlighting how Bookdown can make accessible resources with minimal coding required for staff who may be initially reticent as they are not coders.

Generation of accessible lecture notes and resources is not trivial if mathematical notation is required.

Bookdown/Claverton Down are outstanding tools but the learning curve is steep and whilst a number of people are already working on individual projects and ideas these are often not well communicated. The event would look to:

  • introduce the basics of Clavertondown for newbies
  • share techniques staff are using in their resources, from embedded video/H5P to layout and formatting code
  • share the benefits if using such tools for increased accessibility
