Researchers in Residence at the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust (RUH)
University of Bath researchers worked with clinicians and managers on a set of projects to improve quality at RUH with advanced analytics and systems modelling.
Researchers from our Centre for Healthcare Innovation and Improvement were embedded within the hospital and provided clinical teams and managers with high quality advanced analytical, systems modelling as well as qualitative research methods expertise.
Example projects
- exploring whether being a medical outlier is associated with worse patient outcomes (paper)
- supporting decisions around maternity service reorganisation (one of the technical papers here, additional papers are under review)
- Implementing standardised flow in hospitals, and in particular exploring the challenges of implementing national guidelines (i.e. care pathways) in local settings (paper)
- developing and validating a predictive model for emergency hospital admissions (paper)
