Project Lead: Taghried Adbelmagid, Department of Architecture.
The project will introduce the Construction Collage, a highly interactive, research-informed workshop, into the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering (ACE) at the University of Bath. Delivered by trained external facilitators, the workshop uses a collaborative board-game format to unpack the construction sector’s contribution to ~40% of global CO₂ emissions and explore actionable pathways to decarbonisation.
Funding will support the initial delivery of the workshop to ACE staff and a train-the-trainer model, enabling a cohort of lecturers to become certified facilitators. This will build internal capacity to embed the Collage within first-year teaching. The anticipated impact is threefold: 1- Enhanced student understanding of whole-life carbon and systems thinking from the outset of their studies. 2- Improved staff confidence in teaching complex climate-content through active learning pedagogy. 3- A scalable, interdisciplinary teaching resource that supports a climate-positive and regenerative design mindset. The project will contribute to sector-leading education for the built environment.
Project outcomes expected Spring 2027.
