Fudan University is a member of the elite C9 League, known as China's Ivy league, a Class A Double First Class University and ranked 50th in the 2024 QS World Rankings. Fudan University and the University of Bath have collaborations based in the Faculty of Engineering and Design via the UK-China Antimicrobial Resistance Partnership Hub and the Faculty of Science, via new nanotechnology research. They are also an an active partner of the Centre for Research in Education in Asia and the Centre for Natural Resource Extraction, Sustainability and Social Justice in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

This visit was organised by the Department for Social and Policy Sciences to investigate synergies with the Institute of Global Public Policy and the Research Institute of Public Health and Governance at Fudan University. The delegation included Professor Chunrong Liu, Managing Director of the Fudan-European Centre for China Studies at the University of Oslo, Professor Yingyao Chen, Director of the Fudan Research Institute of Public Health and Governance, Professor Yijia Jing, Dean of the Institute for Global Public Policy and Co-Director of LSE-Fudan Research Centre for Global Public Policy and Ms Rong Zhang.

During the visit, the delegation toured the campus and met with the University of Bath's Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research and Enterprise), Professor Sarah Hainsworth, and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education and Global), Professor Julian Chaudhuri, as well as the Doctoral College, International Relations Office, the Centre for Development Studies and Centre for the Analysis of Social Policy. To conclude the day, meetings were held with the the Institute for Policy Research (IPR), and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Dean, Associate Deans and Heads of Department.
