Business leaders, experts and companies will come to campus in June for the 2023 Bath & North East Somerset Business Show, which will be hosted by the University of Bath as part of its commitment to foster business innovation, enterprise and supporting local entrepreneurs.

The two-day event (#BANESBS23) will feature exhibitions, workshops, forums and networking opportunities for the business community in the University’s new School of Management building on 27-28 June.

Topics covered include energy and business, the visitor economy, HR and people issues, climate, environment and sustainability, social value, and the digital world and cyberspace. The Show embraces all businesses from start-ups and micros through small, medium and large SMEs to corporates and multinationals.

“The University of Bath has a proud history of collaborating with businesses, fostering innovation, creating new business start-ups, and forming partnerships to address societal challenges. We have much to offer businesses of all sizes and are delighted to be hosting the Bath & North East Somerset Business Show,” says Stephen Rangecroft, Director of External Engagement.

The University has a strong track record in creating spin-out companies and sharing its research expertise with the business world. Business support initiatives include Knowledge Transfer Partnerships, which embed academic experts in companies to help entrepreneurs solve business or technological challenges.

Among other industrial collaborations, the University is home to the Institute for Advanced Automotive Propulsion Systems (IAAPS), a world-leading centre of excellence supporting the transport industry in the transition to net zero.

This year, University of Bath entrepreneurs were shortlisted for 10 National StartUp Awards. Nominees include Aerogel, which is creating ultra-light ‘aerogels’ that can be used as soundproofing and heat-shielding materials for the aerospace and automotive industries, and Ensilitech, which aims to make vaccines that are safe and stable at all temperatures and prevent them from spoiling.

“We hope the Show will also increase awareness of how the University can partner with others in a shared ambition to increase regional prosperity and create sustainable growth,” Rangecroft adds.
