Leadership

The Chancellor, Lord Tugendhat of Widdington, is the ceremonial head of the University and one of our most prominent ambassadors. He is a former chairman of Abbey National plc and Blue Circle Industries plc and, until January 2012, was Chairman of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

The Vice-Chancellor is social scientist Professor Dame Glynis Breakwell. She received a DBE in the Queen’s New Year Honours 2012 for services to higher education. A chartered health psychologist, she specialises in research on leadership, identity processes, risk communication and military cultures. As Vice-Chancellor, she is both the academic leader and the chief executive of the University.

The Chair of Council, Peter Troughton, performs a key role in the University with responsibility for leadership of our governing body. He holds a series of directorships in investment and publishing, and is a Trustee of the Royal Collection and the Royal Opera House Endowment Fund.
