Campus
- Our award-winning campus overlooks the World Heritage City of Bath, and has a friendly community feel, offering outstanding facilities.
- We are continuously investing in the infrastructure of our campus - we've just completed a £110m programme to enhance our teaching, research, social and residential space.
- We are currently planning a new £10m Centre for the Arts for 2014 and further academic, teaching and residential space.
- At the heart of campus, our library is open 24/7 and has more than 500 PC and laptop docking points, 21,000 electronic books and 13,000 journals.
- We're one of the safest places to study in the UK - we're the first university campus to be re-accredited by a national police approved security award.
Research
- Our research ethos has a strong focus upon impact, tackling issues of global significance - from developing new drugs to cure breast cancer to working with Ford to develop fuel efficient cars.

Placements
- We run one of the largest and most established placement schemes in UK higher education thanks to our close links with business, the professions and the voluntary sector.
- Our students benefit from fantastic placement opportunities at some of the best known organisations around the world such as Nike, Google and The World Bank.
- Our placements give students the chance to enhance their CV and make invaluable contacts that can lead to a future job.
- And they pay well - our students normally earn between £15,000 and £25,000 during their placement year.
Employment
- Our Careers Advisory Service has links with over 4,000 employers.
- 81% of our employed first degree graduates move into top level jobs compared with 63% nationally.
- We have one of the strongest employment profiles in the UK - 89% of our 2010 graduates went straight into employment or further study.
- We have links with over 4,000 employers and provide our students support and advice on employment and further study options.

We are The Sunday Times 'University of the Year' for 2011/12 - a fantastic accolade, it recognises our all-round excellence encompassing a range of aspects of research, teaching, employability and the student experience.
Enterprise & Innovation
- Strong links with business help encourage a culture of enterprise among our students and staff.
- Our Innovation Centre provides office space, mentoring and business expertise to over 60 hi-tech, high growth companies as well as supporting entrepreneurial staff and students who want to launch new businesses.
- Many of our spin-out companies remain in Bath, investing in local economic growth and providing employment for our graduates.
- In 2010/11 we made over £1m from our academic consultancy, technology licenses and spin-out companies.
Sport
- Our proud sporting success is based on the expertise of our staff, our world-class £35m Sports Training Village facilities, and our ground-breaking sports science research.
- Our fantastic facilities are enjoyed by students, staff and the local community.
- Thirteen governing bodies also have high performance bases here including athletics, modern pentathlon, netball, swimming and tennis.
- You can rub shoulders with the best –- elite athletes such as Dai Greene and Amy Williams base their training here.
- In the run up to London 2012, we are proud to have been chosen as the venue to host the Paralympics GB team’s preparation camps. We will also be hosting the Malaysian Olympic team.
Students' Union
- Our Students' Union one of the best in the UK, ranked in the top three by the National Union of Students (NUS).
- It boasts a fantastic new £5.5 million Student Centre which has created additional social space for students and provides a buzzing hub for student life on campus.
- It won a national Gold Award in 2011 for the excellent student experience it provides for its members -– one of only four unions across the country to achieve such an accolade.
- Nearly 1,000 students volunteer each year to help with a variety of good causes, and in 2011 students raised nearly £70,000 for charity.

In 2010/11 over 2,000 alumni and other friends made donations towards a range of initiatives including supporting research, helping to improve our facilities, and providing over 300 philanthropic scholarships.
One of our of our earliest graduates, Roger Whorrod, and his wife Sue, have become our first £1m donors – providing a massive boost to our research into green technologies.
Leadership
The Chancellor, Lord Tugendhat of Widdington, is the ceremonial head of the University and one of our most prominent ambassadors. He is a former chairman of Abbey National plc and Blue Circle Industries plc and, until January 2012, was Chairman of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
The Vice-Chancellor is social scientist Professor Dame Glynis Breakwell. She received a DBE in the Queen’s New Year Honours 2012 for services to higher education. A chartered health psychologist, she specialises in research on leadership, identity processes, risk communication and military cultures. As Vice-Chancellor, she is both the academic leader and the chief executive of the University.
The Chair of Council, Peter Troughton, performs a key role in the University with responsibility for leadership of our governing body. He holds a series of directorships in investment and publishing, and is a Trustee of the Royal Collection and the Royal Opera House Endowment Fund.
