| Aims: This unit will give students an understanding of exercise-induced injuries that may be encountered whilst working in the fitness industry, enabling them to effectively and critically analyse such injuries, thus facilitating treatment, rehabilitation and prevention.
Learning Outcomes: At the end of this unit students will be able to:
1. Critically analyse the causes of exercise-induced injuries.
2. Recognise and understand the symptoms of common exercise-induced injuries.
3. Conduct detailed analysis of treatment plans of common exercise-induced injuries.
4. Evaluate strategies for prevention of exercise-induced injuries.
5. Understand and explain rehabilitation for clients with an exercise-induced injury.
Skills: Intellectual: (T, F & A) Knowledge of relevant theoretical concepts. Systematic and critical analysis of information in relation to theoretical concepts; including the ability to compare, contrast and analyse different exercise-induced injuries.
Professional: (F) Independent research, presentation skills. Risk analysis in the workplace to ensure safe and effective exercise techniques to prevent injury. Analysis and treatment of exercise-induced injuries in the workplace.
Practical: (T, F & A) Application of risk analysis through observation, research and critical reflection to ensure safe and effective exercise techniques. Analysis of exercise-induced injuries, including causes, symptoms, treatment, rehabilitation and strategies for prevention.
