To introduce and expand on advanced physical chemistry methods in spectroscopy, surface techniques and reaction dynamics.

Learning Outcomes:
After studying this Unit, students should be able to:
* Describe the different processes which control reactions at solid/liquid interfaces
* Describe processes underlying electrode kinetics
* Describe modern surface techniques
* Discuss details of reaction dynamics
* Describe the Polanyi rules
* Interpret electronic spectra
* Derive kinetics of complex decay schemes.
