Aims & Learning Objectives:
To develop an understanding of modern homogeneous catalytic processes and the organometallic reactions that help to underpin them. After studying this Unit, students should be able to:
* Understand representative catalytic cycles and their mechanisms
* Be able to make a critical analysis of a research paper related to catalytic processes.

Content:
Organometallic reactions - oxidative addition, migratory insertion; Examples of catalytic reactions. Monsanto process, hydroformylation and hydrogenation reactions. Alkene polymerisation and metathesis. C-H bond functionalisation as future goal.
NB. Programmes and units are subject to change at any time, in accordance with normal University procedures.
