The aim is to advance student understanding of current and best practises in the methodologies of energy management.

Learning Outcomes:
After successfully completing this unit students should be able to describe the current situation in regard to energy use and the environmental implications of it on a global, national and local scale. Students should also be able to demonstrate: an in-depth understanding of the role of energy management in the context of specific benefits for the companies and other organisations; how energy management can be implemented and what implementation means in terms of action, training, resources etc.; what constitutes efficiency in terms of combustion, refrigeration and heat exchange; and basic economic principles as applied to investment in energy management.

Skills:
This distance learning unit develops skills in self study and written expression.

Content:
Physical aspects of energy, basic principles relating to energy, energy management including the energy policy, energy audit, monitoring and control, combustion, refrigeration, energy recovery and economics for energy managers.
