The aims of this unit are to:
* develop the ability to identify the engineering design requirements of clients;
* develop a research methodology for engineering;
* analyse the impact of composites technology in the area of motorsport manufacture;
* identify the requirement for continuous research into manufacturing techniques and materials in motorsport manufacturing.

Learning Outcomes:
On completion of the unit the student should be able to:
* propose and identify areas of engineering research;
* undertake and evaluate engineering research;
* quantify the value of quality assurance methods and procedures in motorsport manufacture;
* improve the quality of engineering products or processes;
* select appropriate methods and materials for motorsport manufacture.
