To develop a critical awareness of the potential benefits/limitations and resistance to uptake of intelligent control systems, smart envelopes and buildings.

Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this unit, students should be able to:
* Appraise the benefits of smart building strategies in low-carbon design.
* Understand the key functional capabilities of smart buildings.
* Examine the limitations of smart building strategies during implementation.
* Explore the most appropriate smart building strategies for select building and occupancy typologies.
