* To provide the students with a conceptual understanding that enables the student to evaluate critically current environmental management research;
* To guide the student in how to collect, interpret and analyse data;
* To guide students in how to carry out detailed research.

Learning Outcomes:

* Be able to use the library site to access databases
* Know how to plan and structure a dissertation according to DL-unit guidelines
* To be able to critically evaluate published research.

A range of topics are covered including references, structure, ethics, confidentiality, sources of data, data gathering, topic selection, planning your time, working with you supervisor, understanding the marking scheme, evaluation of published research, library skills.
