Further information on descriptions Description: Aims:
To provide a supporting framework to enable students to conduct a piece of practice orientated small scale research, audit or evaluation and to present their findings as a work-orientated report to enhance service or practice development.

Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this unit participants will be able to:
1. Design a small scale research study, audit or evaluation (intellectual skill; facilitated and assessed)
2. Follow the process for obtaining ethical approval for research work if needed (professional, practical, key and intellectual skill; facilitated and assessed)
3. Critically evaluate the literature associated with that study (professional, key and intellectual skill; facilitated and assessed)
4. Collect data using appropriate tools and methodologies (professional, practical, key and intellectual skill; facilitated and assessed)
5. Critically analyse data and draw appropriate conclusions / recommendations from these data (professional, practical, key and intellectual skill; facilitated and assessed)
6. Present information in an appropriate format (professional, practical, key and intellectual skill; facilitated and assessed).

The participant will undertake a piece of work which will entail the following stages:
* Project Design
* Ethics and governance approval
* Literature review
* Design and piloting
* Data Collection
* Data Analysis
* Preparation of Conclusions
* Presentation of completed report for employer and/or profession.
