The unit aims to introduce key innovation management concepts and principles, and to explore the skills required to manage product and process innovation at operational and strategic levels. It focuses on the key strategic and conceptual issues that affect the innovation process. It will examine how different actors may influence, enable and inhibit the innovation process.

Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this unit students will be able to:
* Identify and describe different types of innovations
* Assess the skills and capabilities required to manage innovation
* Identify the components of innovation strategy and its link with corporate strategy
* Assess the extent of innovativeness of an organisation
* Identify the enabling and inhibiting role of different actors on the innovation process.
