Sports Assistant

As a Sports Assistant you will play a vital role within our Sports Training Village, carrying out the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the sports facilities and associated areas, so that we can provide activities, services and facilities for students, university staff, the local community and high-performance athletes.

In addition, we are recognised by UK Sport as one of only six Elite Training Centres, providing the training base for around 250 international level athletes. This is a great position to learn and develop basic skills within a sporting environment, and become part of a professional and progressive organisation at the leading edge of sport, health and fitness.

A typical day

  • Setting up indoor and outdoor activities 
  • Setting up events 
  • Lifeguarding 
  • Assisting with general enquiries from customers 
  • Responding to adhoc requests for support.

About you

You will need good interpersonal skills, the ability to work as part of a team and enjoy working varied hours which could include evenings and weekends.

Due to the working hours and pattern of this role, these positions are only suitable for those aged 18 years and over.

We currently have two vacancies, each working 15 hours per week:

Role 1 - Monday and Friday 1715-2215, and Sunday 1415-1915
Role 2 - Wednesday and Friday 1715-2215, and Sunday 1415-1915

We are closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day but, due to business need, sometimes you will be finishing at midnight or later (to cover events). This could include bank holidays and some time over Christmas.

This role requires a basic DBS check which we would organise for you and we will support you with all the training you need to thrive in this inspiring environment
