Today, you’ll start to notice some changes to our website and digital channels, as well as around campus, as the new identity begins to appear.
The changes come alongside our new 10-year University Strategy 2036 and are part of how we are expressing the next chapter for Bath.
As we look to the next decade, the way we present Bath is evolving too. Our new identity will help us express what makes Bath distinctive - who we are and what we stand for - more clearly and consistently, strengthening how Bath is recognised and understood in the UK and globally.
Our refreshed identity reflects our ambitions for the future, including our commitment to global excellence with impact, and the role our students, colleagues, alumni, partners, and wider community play in achieving it every day.
Shaped by our community
Bath is shaped by the people who study, work, live, research, collaborate and spend time here.
That is why our community has been central to this work.
Around 3,000 voices from 79 countries helped us understand what people value about Bath, what makes us distinctive and how we can express that more clearly. A further 1,000 people shared feedback on the visual options, helping shape the identity you see today.
What emerged was a strong sense of a University that brings people and ideas together, creates opportunities and turns knowledge into meaningful change.
Our new identity has been created to bring those qualities to life while staying true to our heritage, and to work flexibly across our digital and physical environments.
At the heart of the refreshed identity is a simple idea: We make futures.
We make futures
Every day at Bath, people are shaping what comes next.
Our students are building their own futures, shaped by the opportunities and ideas that abound at Bath. Our colleagues are creating new knowledge, supporting learning, innovating to drive impact and helping our University thrive. Our researchers and partners are tackling global challenges and developing ideas that help create better futures for people and planet.
We make futures brings those stories together.
It reflects both the opportunities people create for themselves at Bath and the wider difference our community makes through education, research, innovation and partnership.
It connects what we do today with our ambitions for the decade ahead and our commitment to global excellence with impact.
What you'll start to see
You’ll begin to see our new identity appearing across the University.
On our website and digital channels, you’ll notice changes to the way Bath looks, feels and communicates. Around campus, you’ll gradually see changes across signs, spaces, printed materials, screens and other University communications.
We’re also using new colours and fonts that reflect our heritage in the city of Bath, our campus architecture, and our beginnings as a technological institute.
Not everything will change at once.
21 October marks the start of our transition to the refreshed visual identity, rather than a deadline for everything to change overnight.
For a while, you may see our existing and new identities alongside each other. This is expected as different parts of the University make the transition over time.
Looking ahead
Our refreshed identity marks the start of a new chapter for Bath.
It reflects the ambition set out in Strategy 2036 and our commitment to global excellence with impact. As it is introduced across our University, it will help us present Bath more clearly, consistently and confidently to the audiences who matter most.
Together, we're building a University that is recognised not only for the quality of its education, research and innovation, but for the positive difference it makes in the world.
