Colleagues from the Institute of Policy Research, Department of Politics, Language and International Studies, Department of Mechanical Engineering and School of Management will also be part of the International Relations Office delegation.

The Department of Mathematical Sciences will be well represented for the visit with Dr Kirill Cherednichenko, Dr Karim Anaya-Izqueirdo and Dr Gavin Shaddick also travelling to Mexico. The Department has traditionally strong links with researchers in the country and a history of collaborative visits.

The Maths team will visit Universidad Autónoma de México (UNAM), Centro de Investigación en Matemáticas (CIMAT), CINVESTAV, and the national research funders CONACYT and will be building on existing research links and making new ones.

Professors Kyprianou and Milewski and Dr Douglas will be developing potential exchange links with research groups and postgraduate students from the mathematical centres of excellence in Mexico. The highlight of the visit will be the signing of an academic exchange agreement, between the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Bath and Department of Mathematical-Physics (IIMAS) at UNAM, which will facilitate visits of up to a year for undergraduate and postgraduate students between the two institutions.

The visit will also include an Alumni and networking event at the Chamber of Commerce with graduates from Mexico and representatives from the University’s strategic international partners.
