The last few places are available for policy engagement training sessions taking place in December 2024 and January 2024.

Aimed at early career researchers (ECRs), the online training sessions follow the success of previous Bath Policy Engagement Academy (BPEA) training delivered by the Institute for Policy Research (IPR).

The sessions will be delivered by Professor Nick Pearce (Director of the IPR), Annabelle Foot (Head of Research Excellence and Impact, Research & Innovation Services), and Amy Thompson (Head of Policy Programmes and Communications, IPR).

The training will cover:

  • How government and Parliament work
  • How policy is made
  • Communicating with policymakers
  • Mechanisms of policy engagement

It will include one-to-one training with participants to help them develop a policy engagement strategy appropriate to their research.

The sessions will take place online on Thursday 12 December (14:00-16:00) and Thursday 23 January (14:00-16:00).

"I have started investigating some of organisations/opportunities mentioned that were new to me. The training has also made me rethink how I approach policy engagement and impact." — Course participant
