As we come to the end of Semester 2, we want to take a moment to recognise what has already been a full and successful academic year for our University of Bath community - and it's not over yet!

Recognising your successes

To all our students, congratulations on reaching this point in the academic year. Postgraduate study is challenging, and we know many of you balance those demands alongside adjusting to life in a new city or country, and alongside other substantial life commitments. Whilst the finish line may not yet be in sight, we hope you are incredibly proud of all you’ve achieved so far.

This year has seen so many examples of student success already - from academic and personal development, to engagement in initiatives such as the Bath Award and wider student-led activity.

Thank you for the part you play in shaping our community. We're here to support you through the summer, and as you prepare to take your next steps, equipped with the skills and experiences you’ve built during your time here.

A heartfelt thank you to our staff

We would also like to thank colleagues across the University for their continued dedication and care. Your expertise and commitment play a vital role in supporting our students and strengthening our community.

Looking ahead

This year, we’ve continued to develop the opportunities available to you as Postgraduate students - from enhanced careers and employability support, with events taking place during the summer, to initiatives that strengthen wellbeing, safety and community, including the launch of the SU Postgraduate Network.

We're excited for what the future holds, over the coming months, and beyond.

Support over the summer

We know that, as master’s and doctoral students, you will continue your studies and research over the summer. Please remember that support remains available throughout:

  • Student Support – including wellbeing, mental health, disability and financial support, with 24/7 help available through Be Well – Talk Now
  • Skills Centre – writing support, maths and statistics help, and guidance for dissertations and projects
  • Library Services – access to digital resources and study support
  • Summer at Bath – events and activities if you're staying here over June, July and August
  • Doctoral College – ongoing training and development for doctoral researchers.

If you’re considering your next steps, a range of careers support continues to be available, including tailored events and one-to-one guidance to help you plan for the future.

To everyone in our community, thank you. We encourage you to take time where you can over the summer to rest and recharge. This is an important opportunity to reflect on everything you’ve achieved and to prepare for the next stage of your journey.

Warmest wishes,
Professor Cassie Wilson, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Student Experience)
Professor Julian Chaudhuri, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education)
Professor Emma Carmel, Interim Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research)
