Three second year Gold Scholars will be watching an exclusive live screening of the UEFA Champion’s League Final on 1 June 2019, at the brand new home of first time finalists Tottenham Hotspur.
Football fans Emily Baiden, James Birkinshaw and Molly Savage will join a select group of students from across the UK at a widening participation event hosted by Santander Universities.
“I’m very, very excited”
Molly Savage, who’s studying Biology, is a huge Spurs fan. She lives in South Wales with her mum but goes along to games with her dad.
“It’s extremely exciting that Spurs are in the final,” she says. “I’ve not seen the new stadium yet and it’s meant to be the best stadium in the world, so that will be amazing.”
“Spurs don’t usually win anything! So it would be mind-blowing if they won.”
Molly, Emily and James will take part in a workshop on developing and channelling their motivation, a stadium tour, dinner, a Q&A with an ex-professional Premier League player, followed by a screening of the Champions League Final between Spurs and Liverpool.
As Gold Scholars, they receive financial support to study at Bath, alongside a host of opportunities to develop their skills through volunteering and networking.
“A lot of doors have been opened,“ Molly says. “I just thought I was lucky to get into Bath at first, and then I got offered the scholarship and I was like ‘This is amazing!’ The opportunities have just flowed in and it’s been brilliant. I’m so much more confident. I’m a different person, really.”
Our partnership with Santander Universities
