We are delighted to welcome Dr Geoff Bates to the University of Bath as a new Research Associate in the Institute for Policy Research (IPR).

Geoff previously worked at the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and the Public Health Institute at Liverpool John Moores University.

His research interests include understanding health and social behaviours and behaviour change, and the development of interventions, policy and guidance. His research projects have most frequently focused on substance use and addiction, mental health and wellbeing, the environment and sustainability, and physical activity.

Geoff joins the IPR to work on Tackling the Root causes Upstream of Unhealthy Urban Development (TRU3D) – a new project which aims to understand how prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) might be fully considered and factored in to the decision-making of those in control of the quality of our urban environments.
