Following the success of previous Bath Policy Engagement Academy (BPEA) training for early career researchers (ECRs), we are pleased to announce that the Institute for Policy Research (IPR) is offering four more policy engagement training sessions for ECRs.

The sessions will be delivered by Professor Nick Pearce (Director of the IPR), Dr Emma Gibbard and Annabelle Foot (both Head of Research Excellence and Impact, Research & Innovation Services), and Amy Thompson (Head of Policy Programmes and Communications, IPR).

The training will cover:

  • How government and Parliament work
  • How policy is made
  • Communicating with policymakers
  • Mechanisms of policy engagement

It will include one-to-one training with participants to help them develop a policy engagement strategy appropriate to their research.

The sessions will take place on Wednesday 9 October (14:00-16:00), Wednesday 27 November (10:00-12:00), Thursday 12 December (14:00-16:00) and Thursday 23 January (14:00-16:00).
