From mid-July and throughout August and September you may experience disruption when travelling to campus by car or bus, so please plan ahead. We will continue to update this page as we receive more information.

Car parks on campus

From July to the end of August we have essential works in Car Park G and around the Sports Training Village. Car Park G will be closed between Monday 10 August and Friday 18 September 2026, and there will be temporary access and traffic control measures in the vicinity.

Automatic number-plate recognition (ANPR)

We are installing automatic number-plate recognition (ANPR) cameras to all of our car parks on the Claverton Down campus in August. Please be reminded that if you park without a valid permit or 'Pay to Park' via JustPark you will receive a parking charge notice.

We continue to encourage everyone who drives to campus to consider other more sustainable and healthy alternatives.

The Avenue, North Road and Bathwick Hill

Throughout July Bath & North East Somerset Council are beginning works on Scholars’ Way, to improve connections between local schools, residential areas and the University of Bath. These works will affect the roads outside The Avenue entrance to the Claverton Down campus, at the top of North Road and Bathwick Hill.

The works include a new toucan crossing across Oakley, and enhanced footpaths and dropped kerbs to improve active travel.

  • 23 July to 26 August: the southern side of the North Road and Bathwick Hill junction is expected to be closed
  • 26 August to 22 September: there will be traffic control signals on the junction of Bathwick Hill and North Road
  • 16, 17 and 18 September: a full road closure for resurfacing the affected areas, between 7pm and 7am.

View a map of the affected roads outside The Avenue entrance.

Bus diversions and temporary bus stop on campus

During the Bathwick Hill roadworks all First buses will travel via North Road and Quarry Road.

Buses will use the West Car park as a temporary bus stop for drop off and pick up. We will install a temporary heightened platform to maintain safe access to the bus entry and exit steps.

The buses will run to the same timetable. You can check on any changes to local First Bus services on the First Bus website.

Remember we have a new email address for staff, students and local residents to report any issues with the University buses run by First Bus: buses@bath.ac.uk.
