Recognising Excellence operates throughout the year. Each autumn, Faculties and Departments receive updated information and budgets for the scheme. Although the scheme operates within a University-wide framework, faculties and departments have flexibility to tailor their approach to recognising staff contributions. This includes their nomination processes, recognition criteria and award values.

How to nominate for an award

  • Read the Recognising Excellence Awards webpage to understand more about the scheme.
  • Read our guidance for writing a nomination.
  • Please ensure you know how and when your Faculty or Department plans to run RE this year.
  • Please use the online nomination form to submit a nomination.
    • As the scheme is run locally, your Department may use their own form and apply their own objectives or criteria to guide what types of contributions they choose to recognise.
  • You can nominate yourself, a colleague/s or teams for an award.
  • Please ensure all nominations are submitted within the deadlines set.
    • If your department has announced it is running the scheme to award in the December payroll, please ensure you have submitted your nominations by Wednesday 18 November. You department will need to review the nominations and confirm the awards with Reward by Tuesday 1 December, to ensure payments are made in the December payroll.

Staff may be recognised at different points throughout the year, depending on their faculty or department's approach, with awards being made up to 31 July 2027.
