We are delighted to announce the winners of the National Student Survey (NSS), Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES), PGT Dissertation Survey and Unit Evaluation prize draws for 2024. Read why they participated in their survey.
NSS
J S Lee (Life Sciences) - 1 x Champagne Afternoon Tea in the Pump Rooms for four
I participated in the NSS to suggest enhancements to the Biomedical Sciences programme, aiming to better prepare students for the professional environment, especially those who may not undertake a placement year. My suggestions included the importance of enriching the curriculum with increased practical and computational science modules to strengthen data analysis and problem-solving abilities. I believe the University prioritises student perspectives and feedback and I am confident that it will incorporate our suggestions to improve educational outcomes for future students.
David Hughes (Mechanical Engineering) - 1 x Twilight Package at the Thermae Bath Spa for two
I decided to participate in the NSS so that I could provide feedback from my time at Bath to give the University the opportunity to improve the course for future students. I also wanted to highlight areas in which the course has excelled, and the effort that has been put in by many staff members to make the course engaging whilst equipping me with valuable skills.
Paul Carden (Natural Sciences) - 1 x Twilight Package at the Thermae Bath Spa for two
I took part in the NSS to reflect upon my time at Bath and highlight all the positive aspects of my experience here. I also wanted to provide feedback on any areas I thought could be improved to benefit the experience of future students at the university.
PTES
Alina Palinska (Politics, Languages & International Studies) - 1 x £250 cash
I decided to participate in the PTES survey to share my feedback and thoughts on the POLIS postgraduate experience. It's a chance to make a difference, potentially help improve the program, and ensure that our student voices are heard. I am glad I am a part of improving the University of Bath.
PGT Dissertation Survey
Boonyaporn Jirachananont (School of Management) - 1 x £50 Amazon vouchers
I participated in the PGT Dissertation Survey to provide valuable feedback that can help enhance postgraduate programmes at our university. By sharing my experiences, I hope to support the improvement of academic resources and services for future students. Engaging in surveys like this allows me to contribute to the development of our academic community and ensure that student voices are heard and valued.
Unit Evaluations
Ben Appleby (Politics, Languages & International Studies) - 1 x £100 cash
I chose to complete the OUEs because despite the incredibly high standard at which we are taught, there are ways in which we can improve our units to make our courses accessible to all students, irrelevant of the way in which they learn. They also allow us to share with lecturers and departments the areas of our courses that we have really enjoyed and benefited from to help the future provision of units.
Gwen Davies (Architecture and Civil Engineering) - 1 x £100 cash
My lecturers told me how important completing the unit evaluations is, especially for a brand new course like mine. It’s a way for students to get their opinions across and an opportunity to emphasise anything you might be happy, or unhappy with in your modules.
Martha Lebentz (Health) - 1 x £100 cash
I completed the Unit Evaluations as I think it is very important to your course and university. It can help to improve the course and make your suggestions heard. I encourage anyone to do them and it only takes a few minutes!
Ronaldo Butrus (Computer Science) - 1 x £100 cash
It is inevitable that some modules are delivered at a better standard than others. While completing an OUE doesn’t necessarily change the course of any modules for us immediately, our feedback does feed into its delivery to the next cohort – if flagged, what has been done well will likely continue, and what has not been done well will likely be looked upon. So, I urge you to set aside a few minutes to complete these evaluations, because the next cohort are dependent on you to do so.
