There was a full-day Council Strategy Meeting.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor gave a report on key issues for the University. The three Pro-Vice-Chancellors introduced discussion on progress on the University Strategy relating to Learning & Teaching, Research and International issues. The Acting Chair of Council then led a discussion on the size and composition of Council. In the afternoon, the Director of Undergraduate Admissions and Outreach spoke about Outreach and Widening Participation. The Director of Student Services and Deputy Director Safety & Wellbeing Services also gave a presentation on Mental Health issues.
The normal business meeting followed at 3.30pm, at which the following issues were discussed.
Admissions 2018
The Director of Undergraduate Admissions and Outreach gave a summary of student intake figures and thanked everyone who had worked so hard on recruitment and admissions.
Effectiveness Review
Council approved several recommendations from the Effectiveness Review Steering Group.
Key Performance Indicators
Council noted an update on its Key Performance Indicators which monitored the core activities of the University, benchmarked against similar universities.
Student Surveys 2018
Council noted the 2018 student survey results and the action planning being undertaken to improve student satisfaction.
Development
Council noted the Development and Alumni Relations Annual Report for 2017/18 along with financial reports on funds raised and endowment funds.
Committees
Council agreed that the members of the Committee on the Office of Chancellor and Committee on the Office of Vice-Chancellor be stood down, with an expectation of only populating the Committees when required.
