Penny was a very much loved and popular member of the pharmacy teaching team and enjoyed her role which allowed her to combine her skills and experience to the benefits of both patients and students. She was a highly respected pharmacist, and had worked across a range of settings including the RUH, The Bath Clinic and a local GP practice.

Penny excelled at bringing her professional skills and knowledge to the classroom in a supportive and approachable manner. She was a key member of the team delivering the new MPharm programme and was keen to bring innovation to her teaching. She was delighted to be the winner of the 2017 People’s Choice poster award at the international Monash Pharmacy Education Symposium in Prato, Italy, highlighting her teaching developments.

Lyn Hanning, Director of Practice Based Learning, said “We are all devastated at the untimely loss of Penny. She will be remembered fondly by our students for her kind, thoughtful and wise approach to their development as future pharmacists and will be sorely missed by staff across the whole department and in wider practice. Our thoughts are very much with her family at this time.”

A book of condolence and donations for Dorothy House Hospice are being co-ordinated by the Pharmacy department and anyone wishing to contribute should contact Julia Pearce.

We know that Penny’s death will affect fellow students, colleagues, friends and a range of support is available for our students and staff:
