Colleagues remember Professor Tullio Rozzi who died in August.

Professor Tullio Rozzi moved with his research group from the University of Liverpool to the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Bath in 1981. His research group expanded significantly and he generated a very productive research activity in Microwave Theory over the period of his stay at Bath. In addition, he instigated research work in Optoelectronics and it is justified to say that Prof Rozzi acquired the first large EPSRC research funding on Optical Switching (JOERS) that was granted jointly to the group at Bath along with the University of Cambridge, British Telecom Research Laboratories (BTRL) and Standard Telecommunications Laboratories (STL).

Prof Rozzi moved back to the Polytechnic University of Marche, Ancona, Italy in 1988 but he maintained research contact with Bath, not least by prompting many students from Ancona to do their final year projects at Bath as Erasmus students, some of whom continued to study for their postgraduate degrees at the University of Bath.

Prof Rozzi's legacy of research in Microwaves and Optoelectronics was continued at the University of Bath by several of his colleagues and research students – some of the latter went on to become members of academic staff.
