Following the update on Arboreal work on campus, there will be further work on our trees on two parts of campus.

On The Avenue, the tree survey highlighted health concerns for four of the trees.

A Sonic Tomography survey, akin to an X-ray, has now confirmed that their trunks are showing advanced stages of decay, meaning that they are in a dangerous state. Approval has been obtained from the council and these will be removed to be replaced by new trees in the near future.

To ensure everyone’s safety, sections of The Avenue will be temporarily closed from 8:30 am-4:30pm on the days that work takes place; 21-26 February and 29-31 March.

Across campus, in the grassy area north of our Westwood accommodation, 17 trees made up of seven different native species will also be planted from 16 February.

These works are part of planting plans to enhance the biodiversity and strengthen the green linkage along the University boundary, which is a component of the planning permission for the School of Management building.
