The beginning of the year saw adverse weather conditions, as snow and sleet saw campus partially closed for two days. Then February arrived with a flurry of announcements including the official openings of the new Team Bath Gym and Fitness centre and the CAFÉ at Polden, as well as the excellent news that we had been named one of the world’s top-100 universities in five different subjects.
In the spring, we began the development of the campus arrivals square to support sustainable transport to campus, which has since contributed to our significantly improved bus service.
We also welcomed our new Vice-Chancellor Ian White to the University, which was marked by an event at The Edge attended by our Chancellor, HRH The Earl of Wessex. The event included contributions from our students, staff, alumni and the Mayor of Bath.
Our Staff Recognition Award winners were announced in June, following the most impressive nominations to date in terms of breadth, quality and diversity, as well as numbers. Congratulations once again to all the 2019 winners and to everyone who was nominated.
Towards the end of the year we learned that we will be saying goodbye to Professor Steve Egan, who will be retiring in February from his role as Vice-President (Implementation). We also celebrated Staff Wellbeing Kickstart Week with a full calendar of activities, including workshops on mindfulness, resilience and stress management.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who visited the page throughout 2019 and we’re looking forward to bringing you many more stories to update you on news and developments in 2020.
