In November 2019, as part of our Whole University Approach to Workplace Wellbeing, we put the call out to all University staff for recruits to a network of Staff Wellbeing Champions.

We are pleased to announce that we are now able to launch the Network with over 20 volunteers from across the University who will play a vital role in helping us achieve our wellbeing aspirations.

We recognise that sometimes staff require guidance or support and may not always be sure who or where to turn for assistance. Here is a list of our Wellbeing Champions who are spread across the University, and are there to help staff in all roles and areas, playing a key part in signposting staff to the range of support services available.

Examples of activities that Wellbeing Champions may get involved in include:

  • signposting colleagues to relevant resources and services
  • taking an active part in promoting messages, activities and events
  • encouraging colleagues to access relevant health and wellbeing opportunities
  • sharing best practice and stories of success
  • role modelling and promoting a healthy culture within our community
  • promoting working with wellbeing in mind

This new Network forms part of our wider Time to Change Action Plan (an initiative led by charities Mind and Rethink Mental Illness) that aims to address and support employees’ mental health and wellbeing and shows the commitment of the University to making it okay to talk about mental health and wellbeing.
