View our courses to find out which one suits you. Our economics master's degrees offer opportunities to gain practical experience through either consultancy projects or policy briefs.


MSc Economics

Receive rigorous training in microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics to build on your core knowledge of economics and prepare for a range of professional roles or doctoral study.

MSc Economics and Finance

Combine core theory in economics with key financial topics to build the skills needed for careers within financial institutions or consultancies, ministries of finance or economics, or central banks.

MSc Applied Economics

Enhance your knowledge of microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics, with a focus on their application to contemporary challenges and issues.

MSc Applied Economics with Banking and Financial Markets

Further your knowledge of the main aspects of economic and financial theory with a focus on how they're used within real-world banking and financial institutions.

For MSc Economics and MSc Economics and Finance, you can choose to complete a consultancy project as an alternative to a dissertation. These projects allow you to work with an external organisation on a real-world challenge they are facing.

On MSc Applied Economics and MSc Applied Economics with Banking and Financial Markets, you can choose to complete policy briefs as an alternative to a dissertation. This allows you to communicate the practical implications of a piece of policy or research.

We also offer an MSc in Applied Psychology and Economic Behaviour, as well as an Applied Economics (Banking and Financial Markets) online MSc.

You might be eligible for one of our brand new scholarships for 2026/27.

We are offering a number of scholarships ranging from £3,000 to £10,000 to high-achieving students joining a full-time taught master’s course in September 2026.

If you are a new fee-paying student, and have an offer to study a postgraduate taught degree at the University of Bath, you might be eligible.

Join a research-led department


Our department has a strong research culture, with many articles written by academics being published in general interest or top field journals in economics.

On joining the department, students will benefit from research conducted by our research groups. As well as gaining the opportunity to work with academics contributing to the key discussions that shape our world today.
