Find out how you can use the Virgil Building.


You can use the study spaces, book rooms for meetings and societies, and access a variety of support services in the city centre, including:

  • counselling, mental health, and wellbeing advice
  • disability advice and specialist mentoring and tutoring
  • money and retention advice

Find a space for your needs

You have many options for study and group spaces in the Virgil Building.


You can access informal study areas in open-plan spaces without the need to book.

You can book a study space through LibCal, the Library's booking system. Study spaces include:

  • one-person rooms, perfect for confidential virtual meetings, interviews, and study
  • group study and meetings rooms

If you're a student or member of staff you can also book the training rooms on Level 1 (1.07 and 1.08) for:

  • workshops
  • training
  • societies
  • group activities

Student Support

We're your first point of contact for a range of information and support to help you with your studies and student life.


We can support you through guidance, advice and workshops. You can book appointments with us for:

  • wellbeing advice
  • student money and retention advice
  • counselling and mental health
  • tutoring
  • disability advice
  • mentoring for disabled students

We also offer wellbeing activities, counselling workshops and courses, and groups.

We are open Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 4.30pm.

Library Services

There are a number of Library services you can access at the Virgil Building.


At the Virgil Building you can:

  • access all of your online learning resources and services from networked PCs or your own devices
  • make use of individual and group study spaces
  • use the IT suite
  • return Library books, which we'll deliver to the campus Library
  • print and photocopy items using your Library card
