Find out how you can use the Virgil Building.


You can use the study spaces, book rooms for meetings and societies, and access a variety of support services in the city centre, including:

  • careers advice
  • counselling, mental health, and wellbeing advice
  • disability advice and specialist mentoring and tutoring
  • money and retention advice

Book a space for your needs

Find out about the bookable study spaces in the Virgil Building.


You can book a variety of spaces at different times through LibCal. These include:

  • Individual study in open-plan spaces
  • Sole use rooms, perfect for confidential virtual meetings, interviews, and study
  • Group study and meetings rooms
  • Group activity rooms, perfect for societies in the evening or weekend

You can also access informal study spaces without the need to book.

The Careers Service

Our office is open Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 5pm on Level 2 of the Virgil Building.


Visit us or use MyFuture to:

  • book one-to-one appointments with Careers Advisers and Application Advisers
  • speak to the Information Team and explore information resources at the enquiry desk
  • find out about and book skills development workshops
  • find opportunities to meet employers on campus or virtually

Appointments are available on campus and remotely to students unable to attend the Virgil Building in person.

Student Services

We're your first point of contact for a range of information and support to help you with your studies and student life.


We can support you through guidance, advice and workshops. You can book appointments with us for:

  • wellbeing advice
  • student money and retention advice
  • counselling and mental health
  • tutoring
  • disability advice
  • mentoring for disabled students

We also offer wellbeing activities, counselling workshops and courses, and groups.

We are open Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 4.30pm.

Library Services

There are a number of Library services you can access at the Virgil Building.


At the Virgil Building you can:

  • access all of your online learning resources and services from networked PCs or your own devices
  • make use of individual and group study spaces
  • use the IT suite
  • return Library books, which we'll deliver to the campus Library
  • print and photocopy items using your Library card
