The Public Engagement Community

Meet others interested in public engagement, share experiences and find out about opportunities to get involved in engaging public groups with your research.

The Public Engagement Community, coordinated by the Public Engagement Unit, is an informal network of research and professional services staff and students interested in public engagement. Through events, newsletters and activities members of the Community can find out more about public engagement, encouraged and supported to share, reflect and develop their public engagement practice and ideas they have for activities that engage public groups with their work.

Join the Public Engagement Community

Find out how to join the Public Engagement Community and some of the benefits of taking part.

As a member of the Public Engagement Community you:

  • can work with the Public Engagement Unit to raise the profile of their engaged research
  • receive a 'heads-up' for on-campus events such as the Public Engagement Showcase and Public Engagement Conversations.

The Community currently has over 300 members representing professional services staff, researchers from postgraduate level through to professors and Students' Union representatives.

Public Engagement Conversations

The Public Engagement Community's regular event series where members can find out more about the public engagement projects going on inside and outside the University.

If you're interested in public engagement, want to meet like-minded people at the University and are looking for some inspiring ideas, come along to a Public Engagement Conversation, held at regular points throughout the year.

There is a wealth of engagement-related expertise across our University and outside of it and our free conversations are a quick way for people to share their ideas and experiences. Everyone is welcome - no experience in engagement activities is required.

Each conversation takes the format of researchers and professionals from the University and other organisations presenting on an area of interest, followed by a chance to ask questions.

We are currently planning upcoming sessions and will announce the dates shortly.
