What has being a CMA CGM Excellence Fund for Education Scholar meant to you?
I can genuinely say that this has been one of the best experiences of my life so far. Studying in the UK had been an ambition of mine for a long time, but without the scholarship, taking this step would have been much more difficult financially. It also meant returning to university six years after completing my bachelor’s degree, which made the experience even more significant. Beyond academics, this year has been completely different from anything I had experienced before. Living and studying in a new country made me more independent and responsible, while the MSc challenged me academically and allowed me to develop my interests across finance, data analysis, machine learning and artificial intelligence. Looking back, I feel very lucky because this year has given me so many memories, so much growth and an experience I know I will carry with me for a long time.
What opportunities and experiences have you had as a result of receiving this scholarship?
Being a CMA CGM Scholar has been an incredibly meaningful part of my year at the University of Bath. Without the scholarship, I would not have been able to come to the UK to study, and especially not at Bath.
My year has been filled with highlights, from participating in hackathons, prosthetics research events and a wide range of sports, to the unique opportunities provided through the scholarship. Meeting Prince Edward at a Scholarship Award Ceremony, attending the Postgraduate Scholarship Reception at the Roman Baths and meeting the Mayor of Bath, and visiting the Port of Southampton were particularly memorable experiences.
In September, I started my Technology Graduate role in Edinburgh, with a particular focus on AI. I am extremely grateful to CMA CGM for enabling me to study at Bath and for the experiences, connections and opportunities the scholarship has provided me with.
How did the CMA CGM Excellence Fund for Education Scholarship enable you to join the University of Bath?
Being a CMA CGM Scholar has meant everything to me over the past year. I would not have been able to attend the University of Bath without the support of the Excellence Fund. It gave me the opportunity not only to strengthen my knowledge of finance during the master's, but also to be part of an amazing community of friends, staff, and dedicated scholarship teams at both the University and CMA CGM. One of my best experiences was the day trip to Southampton port with all of the scholars, where we went behind the scenes of CMA CGM's operations. It was a fantastic day of learning, and none of it would have been possible without the scholarship.
I am delighted to be joining CMA CGM as a Group Finance Control Specialist at the headquarters in Marseille. This is a huge moment for me, because the same people who believed in me a year ago are now investing in my career again. I believe my journey truly shows the real impact of the CMA CGM Excellence Fund Scholarship. It is far more than financial support; it is a launchpad for my career.
What are the highlights from your year in Bath?
I would like to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to those who equipped me with the grace of knowledge, namely: CMA CGM and the University of Bath. The scholarship not only gave me a world-class education but also allowed me to pursue my interests and sports, such as hiking, calisthenics, and football.
With this chapter coming to an end, a new one awaits me in London. I join a leading financial technology company as a Software Engineer. Equipped with all the knowledge and information provided by the University of Bath via the CMA CGM Excellence Fund for Scholarship, I will be able to prosper and contribute creatively. My words cannot express my gratitude to both CMA CGM and the University of Bath.
