Description: This course will introduce a range of hypothesis testing techniques and introduce the topic of experimental design. The course will concentrate on applications in the management area with an emphasis on choosing appropriate methods.
Aims:
To teach the methods of analysis appropriate to common types of data. To introduce the ideas of experimental design.

Skills:
Statistical skills (taught and assessed).

Content:
Sampling distributions. One and two sample tests for means and proportions including the use of Student's t. Simple non-parametric tests and chi-squared tests. Testing Binomial proportions. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA): comparisons of group means. Two-way ANOVA: Two-way classification model, main effects and interactions. Experimental Design: Randomisation, blocking, factorial designs.
