| Description:
| Aims: To update pharmacists on neurological disorders and patient monitoring factors that should be considered when providing pharmaceutical care for these patients. Learning Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit the student will be able to: 1. Describe and analyse the role of the healthcare professional / pharmacist in prescribing and monitoring medication for patients with neurological disease (knowledge and understanding). 2. Explain the disease and patient monitoring factors that are influenced in this therapeutic area (knowledge and understanding, professional practical skill). 3. Critically evaluate the evidence base and medicines management issues for treatment of neurological disease (intellectual skill). 4. Reflect on their own practice in prescribing and medicines management issues for these patients and identify areas for continuous improvement (personal transferable skill). 5. Apply the knowledge gained in this unit to design enhancements to patient facing services and the patient experience (professional practical skill; intellectual skill; knowledge and understanding).
