Learning Outcomes: While taking this unit the student should be able to:
* research the background to the project using academic journals, textbooks and other resources;
* apply their discipline-specific knowledge & skills successfully in the context of an interdisciplinary project;
* analyse the problem being addressed by the project and justify the approaches being adopted, taking into account the perspectives of other disciplines;
* reflect upon and critically evaluate their contribution to the project, taking into account feedback received by others;
* work successfully within a team;
* communicate effectively about the project both orally and in writing, taking into account the intended audience.รข

Aims: The aim of this unit is to provide students with the opportunity to work on a group project in partnership with students from different disciplines and year groups. It aims to enable students to apply their discipline-specific knowledge and skills to an interdisciplinary project. The unit also aims to enhance students transferable skills, particularly relating to communication, creativity, teamwork, independent lifelong learning and project management.

Content: Students will work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams, including students from different year groups, to explore a broad problem that is aligned with broader societal aims, such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals. They will explore and propose potential solutions to the problem, taking into account the perspective of other disciplines, and the contributions of the different members of the team. The projects will be supervised by one or more academic members of staff, who will provide support and guidance to the team. Students will also communicate the topic of their project through a range of different methods, taking into account aims, contexts and audiences.
