Rainbow lanyards

Why we have LGBTQ+ rainbow lanyards and what it means to wear one.

Factsheet

A rainbow lanyard is more than a fashion accessory, it is a great way to show your commitment to being an ally and facilitating a safe, non-judgemental environment for LGBTQ+ members of the University of Bath community.

It also carries a degree of responsibility, so if wearing one please pledge the following:

  • I will promote inclusion by fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and respected.
  • I will continue to educate myself on the discrimination that LGBTQ+ people face.
  • I will actively challenge and speak out against discrimination towards LGBTQ+ people.
  • If approached, I will provide signposting towards appropriate support (eg. Student Support, HR, Support & Report online).

The University of Bath rainbow lanyard features the Intersex Inclusive Progress Pride flag. This is a visual display of our commitment to supporting trans and gender diverse people.

You can find out more information on LGBTQ+ inclusion at the University here.
