The University of Bath is a signatory to the No-NDA Pledge

The University was an early signatory of Can’t Buy My Silence campaign’s No-NDA Pledge, joining in August 2022.

Factsheet

The University is one of the 93 UK Higher Education Institutions signed up to the No-NDA Pledge and commit to "Not using Non-Disclosure Agreements to silence people who come forward to raise complaints of sexual harassment, abuse or misconduct, or other forms of harassment and bullying."

Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) have become the default solution when organisations and other entities settle cases of harassment, misconduct, abuse and bullying. The campaign highlights that two way NDAs are unnecessary for protecting victim identity, and can cause damage to innocent parties whilst hiding information from the public.

Misuse of NDAs has been highlighted by the Can’t Buy My Silence campaign and global discourse around the issue. This has led to organisational policy change across the world, new regulator guidance, and new laws in a range of countries.

Can't Buy My Silence state:

  • The goal of our campaign is simple – legislative and regulatory change that will make NDAs unenforceable for anything other than their original purpose – the prevention of sharing confidential business information (“intellectual property”) and trade secrets.
