The No Kidding support network offers a safe space for staff who are childless not by choice.
While experiences of childlessness are very personal and everyone’s journey is individual, a reoccurring theme amongst group members is the extent and depth of emotional challenges experienced whilst grieving the loss of not being a parent. Or simply navigating day to day life within close relationships, friends, family, the workplace or broader society.
We’ve therefore partnered with The Northern Centre for Mindfulness and Compassion (NCMC) to offer an online taster session as a space intentionally created for those navigating the unique and often unspoken challenges of living a life without children.
Navigating the Challenges of Childlessness
Sally Roberts is an experienced mindfulness instructor, whose work focuses on the conscious cultivation of inner resources within organisations. In this session we’ll explore the practices of emotional agility and mindfulness meditation as a powerful means of both self-care and navigating the ever-changing landscape of being childless not by choice (CNBC).
Sally will:
- share some of her personal experiences of childlessness
- reflect on the broader challenges faced by those who are CNBC
- explore how the cultivation of inner resources can provide comfort, strength and resilience - all valuable qualities if we are to manage the complexities and challenges of personal circumstances, often unrecognised grief and societal narratives around parenthood
