What to do
Choose the option that reflects your scenario:
- Cannot sign in to your University account? Reset your password
- Can sign in to your University account? Change your password
Reset your University password
Use this option if you can’t sign in, have forgotten your password, or are locked out of your account.
Current staff or students
- If you've set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), you can quickly reset your password online yourself
- If you haven't set up MFA or cannot reset your password yourself, you can ask the IT Service Desk to reset your password for you.
After a successful reset, you may be prompted to set up set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) if you haven't done so already.
Applicants
- Reset your password using the account reset tool
- If this doesn't work, submit a password reset form
Choosing a strong password
You can find tips on choosing a strong password in our guidance on creating a strong password.
Change your password
Use this option if you know your password and can sign in, but want to change it.
- Sign in to My Account.
- Select 'Change Password'.
- Follow the prompts to set a new password.
Set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Adding a second authentication method adds an extra layer of security to your account. You may be prompted to do this after resetting or changing your password.
You can use:
- Authenticator app (recommended) – how to set it up
- Phone call
- Text message
- Alternative email
- Security questions
